The Fabled Adventurer Event

Announcing The Fabled Adventurer Event

EverQuest Online Adventures
In Game Event: The Fabled Adventurer

Do you consider yourself a Great Adventurer?

Do you consider yourself a great EverQuest Online Adventures player? Have you built many different high-level characters? Do you complete almost every quest put into game – within the first few days after they go live? Perhaps you think your main character deserves to be called "legendary" – now is your chance to prove it! Take part in "The Fabled Adventurer" in-game event.

Event Details:

Beginning August 23, 2006 (the date is subject to change – stay turned for details), up to five event participants, selected randomly from people who express interest in participating as described below, from each of the live servers (30 people total) will be chosen to begin a new adventure by participating in "The Fabled Adventurer" event in EverQuest Online Adventures.

Each participant will start a new character and build it up to level 60. As part of the experience building process, there will be special quests that must be completed to be in contention. New quests will become available at levels 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 and finally, level 60. Players will need help from friends to complete some of the tasks. How quickly you level up while participating is up to you, however, you must not level up beyond the quest level range (see below). Once a participant acquires a new quest, they must complete it before they reach the next quest level. If quests are not completed in level and series order, that will result in disqualification from the event.

Here's how the quest series works:

The level 10 special quest will be unlocked at level 10 and needs to be completed by the end of level 19;
The level 20 special quest will be unlocked at level 20 and needs to be completed by the end of level 29;
The level 30 special quest will be unlocked at level 30 and needs to be completed by the end of level 39;
The level 40 special quest will be unlocked at level 40 and needs to be completed by the end of level 49;
The level 50 special quest will be unlocked at level 50 and needs to be completed by the end of level 59;
The level 60 special quest will be unlocked at level 60 and should be completed.

The first participant on any server (just one person overall) to obtain level 60 and complete the last quest will be declared "The Fabled Adventurer". That person ("the winner") will be rewarded with the forum rank "The Fabled Adventurer" along with a rare and powerful item that will be created and named after one of their main characters. The item will also be used as treasure on an upcoming raid event (this item and its properties will be determined by the SOE Development team). The first participant on each of the remaining servers to achieve level 60 and finish the level 60 series quest will receive a food or drink item named after one their main characters and the item will be made available on a merchant in the game (this item and its properties will be determined by the SOE Development team). If a tie occurs, we declare a winner in our soul discretion. Note: Character and item names are subject to final approval of SOE and must be consistent with the game Terms of Service.

The start date for this event is dependent on the timing of the game update. The game update is expected to be on or around August 23, 2006. If the game update that the event requires is delayed, the event will be delayed. The event will be delayed and this information will be communicated through the EQOA official forums and website. Also, there is no official predetermined end date for this event. It will end when a participant completes the event on each server.

Event Sign Up

The participant signup period will August 16, 2006 at 6:00 PM Pacific Time and will last until August 22, 2006 at 12:01AM Pacific Time. At that time, we will select up to 5 people from each server to compete. We will notify each selected player via a return e-mail which will include all necessary instructions.

Selected participants will need to be available on the set-up date which is August 23, 2006 at one of the following times: 10:00 am, 1:00 pm, or 7:00 pm Pacific Time. The selected participants will be sent an email with additional details about setting up their characters before August 23, 2006.

If you wish to be placed into the participant selection pool for your server, you must submit an email to EQOAFeedback@soe.sony.com.

Be sure to include all of the following information with your email:

  • Subject of Email: Event - The Fabled Adventurer
  • Station Name:
  • Main Character Name:
  • Main Character Server:
  • Forum Community Handle:
  • E-mail Address:

And this contest lasted all of a day, since someone had a guild who ploobed him to 60 by buying HnG items and letting him turn them in... quite a disappointment if you ask me.  I woulda rather seen someone who actually knew how to play the toon win...

Personally to me this contest was a joke.  Cel knows my own feelings about power-leveling.  The guild I was GM of since the game came out was strictly against it.  Now they have a contest to see who can get ploobed and hit 60 the fastest by turning in HnG items with a virtual army farming items for them.  Personally, I would have liked to have seen a sportsmanlike competition where the people involved actually leveled their toons to 60.  Might have taken a little while, but I think it would have been much more interesting for everyone involved.

Well considering the actual award for compeletion I believe don't quote me but isn't going to be introduced until the "new" zone is out you think they couldv'e did something more planned out.It is not like they had a immediate time frame, what would of really got peoples butts ecspecially the eternal ploob if they wouldn't allow your character to level past forty til the rest of those in the quest also reach that level.Also if you were in the quest and didn't respond after set number of days or mails then you would be disqualified.I do think they shouldv'e made the possibility of choosing two in the same guild impossible as far as it being a "race" we were at a disadvantage. Which honestly I was excited two were chose random or otherwise because it was truely fun and they both worked their asses off even after a winner was announced.
